We got one flash data recovery case from one client who owned the HY518 4G USB flash drive with double-storage IC.The USB disk was not detected at all.
After initial discussion with the client, we had learnt that the USB drive dropped to the ground for several times and this may most probably cause the undetection.
USB recovery case in most situations is recoveryable. As we all know that the components inside a USB disk are more simple than those in hard disks. What are the major inside compnents in the view of USB data recovery?

Due to the fact that this USB flash drive dropped to the ground, we therefore focus the failure point to the Crystal Oscillator. A crystal oscillator is an electronic oscillator circuit that uses the mechanical resonance of a vibrating crystal of piezoelectric material to create an electrical signal with a very precise frequency. A crystal oscillator has very strict requirements to its structure. Once it is striken, its structure may be changed and this USB drive suffered a great change and you cannot view this change at all.
Besides strikes, heat(overheat) may cause distortion to the Crystal Oscillator.
After confirming Crystal Oscillator is damaged and we began to replace the damaged Crystal Oscillator with one donor. It’s lucky enough the USB drive is detected again and all data is recovered.
